With Covid 19 still on in most parts of the world, vacations are most hit. This, to many countries whose major source of revenue comes from tourism. Italy is one such country that’s worst hit during this pandemic. But, the country is making all efforts to draw tourists asap.
The local government in Sicily has announced some really great offers for travelers. Tourism in Italy has fallen by 95% in March. Hence, Sicily is offering a greatly subsidized holidays to domestic and international visitors. Italian government has expressed hopes to open its borders to tourists this summer.
The initial plans include subsidizing visitors’ accommodation costs. Also offering one night of a three-night trip for free, or two nights of a six-day trip, as well as vouchers for cultural and heritage activities. The plans were detailed in an interview with Sicily’s tourism director, Manlio Messina, on Italian news show Mattino Cinque. Apparently, half of the flight charges will also be refunded. But this is yet to be officially confirmed.
With offers like these, who wouldn’t want to fly to Sicily? There are innumerable plannings that the Italian government is making parallely. Social distancing, sanitization and other things are given prime importance. Well, people who thought vacation might just be a forgotten work for a few more months now, can start planning. One may not be able to visit every place on their list. But, something is definitely better than nothing nevertheless. And with offers like these, why let go after all?
