‘Most businesses start with a pain point. When you really feel the pain, you have a desire to do more and solve issues.’
TALE OF A SOAP QUEEN : WOMAN IN BUSINESS
I heard this for the first time while interacting with a business person at a press conference. I remember thinking wow, that’s so true! I didn’t know that many years later, that would become my motto for life.
Having a career as a journalist often leaves one very little time. Amidst hectic schedules and a mind boggling amount of work, one day I discovered my passion to make soaps. All the skin issues that I had ignored all my life seemed to have solutions. I read and read. And made and made. And one fine day, inspired by the results it showed on my little niece, started Mishikrafts (named after Mishika).
Five years into business, there has been a lot of learning on the job. We often don’t talk about our failures, but I make sure that every aspiring entrepreneur I talk to is aware of how things turn out at ground level. But I also always tell people, that if you have the passion things will happen.
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy. It takes a lot, but it gives a lot more. The lows are incredible but the highs are unmatched.
Having started with an assortment of soaps and having moved on to a whole range of bath products and chocolates, the journey has been incredible. Walking away from the arc lights isn’t easy, but when you move beyond what you know, you see what else you are capable of.
