There probably is no non vegetarian who wouldn’t relish chicken curry. This is Sunday staple at many homes. But for a new cook, chicken curry recipe might look scary. No worries, we are here to the rescue. Follow this recipe to the T and you will continue to add this in your regular menu.

Ingredients:
Chicken(whole) – 1 kg
Curds – 1/2 cup
Bayleaf -1
Oil – 1/4 cup
Cloves – 4
Black pepper – 5
Onion (chopped) – 1 cup
Green Chilly – 1
Chilly powder – 1tsp
Salt to taste
Methi powder – 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Cardamom -5
Cinnamon – 2 inch
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Coriander powder -.1.5 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbsp
Coriander – 1/2 bunch
Tomato (chopped) – 1 cup
Method:
Clean and cut chicken to around 10 pieces. Marinate with salt, curd, ginger and garlic paste and methi powder. Keep aside for 20 minutes, let it soak well. Take a wok and heat oil. Add bay leaf, cumin, cardamom, cloves, pepper and cinnamon. Saute for a minute and then add onions till they turn golden brown.

Take about 2 tbsp water and add turmeric, chilly powder and coriander powder to it. Add this to the onion mixture and saute well. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 3 minutes. Now add chopped green chilly and tomatoes. Add salt and cook till tomatoes turn mushy. oil starts to release from corners of the wok. Now add marinated chicken and cook on high flame. Add the marinade along with it.
Let it cook for around 5 mins until it boils. Now add 3 cups of water and continue to cook for another 10 minutes. Remove from heat and pick out the chicken pieces and keep aside. Grind the curry to fine paste. Strain it and add chicken pieces back to it with a cup of water. Cook again till chicken is cooked completely.Add water as and when necessary for consistency. Add fresh coriander leaves and enjoy the chicken curry with roti or rice. It tastes better the next day
