Hosted by Taneira, the Pinkathon is a marathon that creates awareness on breast cancer and women’s health. Saree, being a favorite attire of several Indian women is mostly treated like an occasional wear. But, shedding those inhibitions were these ladies who came all set to the most iconic run.
The women gathered at Freedom Park by 6 am and began the day with warm ups and then the run. Bringing together all these women was not an easy task. But it is the saree, which bound them with multiple colors. College students, mothers, grandmothers and everyone else happily ran with beautiful six yards around them. This event was certainly the star occasion of this weekend.
Bollywood heartthrob and fitness star Milind Soman joined these women on the run. Clad in an off white panche, he sported a semi saree look with panache. With a hot hunk by their side, women felt motivated. Milind also gave an example of his 80 year old mother who does 20 push-ups, runs 10 kilometers and does a 2-minute plank, all in a saree.
Just because you are comfortable in a saree doesn’t mean you stay away from exercising and staying fit. Women’s health is definitely a matter of concern and saree should definitely not stop them from it. These wonderful women wore saree and ran the marathon like true bosses. They proved through this, that fitness has nothing to do with one’s attire. If it is saree that you want to hit the gym, so be it.
