Ingredients:

5-6 potatoes
1 white onion, chopped
2 bowls of shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
3 to 4 tablespoons of American flour
1 teaspoon paprika powder
½ teaspoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cayenne powder
1 teaspoon chilli flakes
2 bowls of milk
¼ cup of Margarine or butter

Method:

Take the potatoes, peel and thinly sliced then and place then into a bowl of water so that then do not brown. In a pot on medium heat add in the butter and melt it make sure it does not burn, to this add in the chopped onions, sauté for a minute.

Scalloped Au Gratin Potatoes

Add in the flour and stir it till it changes to a light creamy brown colour. Add in the milk to this then add all the seasonings and mix well so as to form a nice creamy sauce, add in one bowl of cheddar cheese, you can take of the heat and mix all the ingredients nicely.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour little cheese sauce into a baking dish, add in a layer of sliced potatoes, then again coat with cheese sauce, keep repeating the steps until the potatoes and sauce are over. Top the remaining shredded cheese over the dish and cover with an aluminium foil and bake it for 1 hour.

Take the dish out of the oven, remove the foil and again put the baking dish in to heat for another 20 minutes, until the cheese is nice and crispy brown. Serve immediately.
