How did it begin?
Zumba is said to have started as a mistake by Colombian trainer Albetro `Beto’ Perez. Apparently one day Beto forgot to bring his regular aerobics style music tape to his group exercise class. With no music, he was worried about the class. He rushed back to his car and found a Latin dance music tape. As the tape played, Beto choreographed on spot with salsa steps and other free style dance moves. Soon it led to a fun series of dance class and became instant hit at his gym.
Initially he called it Rumbacize and brought it along when he moved to Miami. It was super hit even there. With help from few entrepreneurs he built a brand out of it and named `Zumba’.
Researchers have found that a single zumba workout burned an average 369 calories or about 9.5 kcal per minute. Zumba is a high energy aerobic workout. It is good for core strengthening and flexibility gains. With lots of hip and midsection movements Zumba is a perfect core strengthening exercise. Zumba is a perfect choice for people looking for weight loss or wanting to maintain current weight.
