The annual art fair Chitrasanthe in Bengaluru is a much sought after event across the country. The entire 2 km stretch is turned into a pedestrian-only path for the event. Art unfolds itself in every possible manner in Chitrasanthe. The event was organized by Chitrakala Parishat and it took place at Kumara Krupa road.
What was in Chitrasanthe?
The 16th Chitrasanthe took place on 6th January 2019 and it was the best way to kick start the year for visitors. Art lovers began flocking the place at as early as 7 am. Over 1200 artists from 16 states had arrived with their best piece to take part in Chitrasanthe.
THE DAY OF ART & ARTISTS-WORLD STOPPED AT CHITRASANTHEChitrasanthe literally translates to ‘fair of pictures’ and the fair plays as a meeting point for artists and art lovers. With no middlemen in business the artists display their piece in the assigned stalls. The patrons visit the stalls on either side of the streets at Chitrasanthe. And end up buying whichever soothes their soul. The stalls are simple number markings on the footpath of Kumara Krupa road and neighboring streets. A bright winter morning opened up to an array of magnificent colors and forms called Chitrasanthe.

Glass paintings, freehand styles, intricate portraits, madhubani clad objects were plenty. Also people were happy to see realistic cement arts, pottery and tiny art works in Chitrasanthe. It was tempting to buy multiple artworks. People were happily strolling across Chitrasanthe. Chitrasanthe also had multiple outlets selling various raw materials, paints, canvas and guiding books to learn art.
The wonderful fair of Chitrasanthe could see people walking with handful of paintings and artworks. Several artists, who otherwise struggle to find buyers for their works, find market in Chitrasanthe. Few of them even land up with bulk commercial orders. Hence Chitrasanthe is a win-win situation to the buyer and seller alike.
